 You said the distance between you and me
Is like the distance between the earth and sky
But see the beautiful horizon
The line where they meet
You said there is hell and heaven difference
Between my breathe and your life
It is true as without your friendship
It is like a hell in heaven
It is like life without breathe
But the difference is not that big
Like the life and death
Like the east and west
 Something unique within us
Is similar between you and me
Hidden and protected
From the rays of outside world
May be a thread of love
That knots a strong bond
Between our hands and hearts
A silent desire
A simple heart
A childish mind
A folded hand
A noble prayer
You said to go away in the day of colour
But see the world outside
And the world of mine
My world has become colourless
Among the colourful world
You did not share your secrets of the day
But still see even you could not stay without me
Even you could not hide yourself
From yourself and from me
See how we smile and laugh
When surprisingly we met
You knew my foot steps
And gave a smiling look
A strange connection of heart
With the colours of quietness, serenity and truth
Without which the seven colours
Red orange yellow
Blue violet green indigo
Turns the life
Black and white
It is the colour of love
Between you and me
The colour of friendship
The colour of family
The colour which cannot fade so easily
In the wind of anger
In the sea of tears
In the stone of ego
In the strange colours of emotions

Lessons from a Matchstick

We know that a match is a flammable object for lighting a fire in required situation. This match sticks even though very small but can teach big lessons. It rubs itself on the rough surface again and again until it burns to ignite the light. The first lesson is that if you want to get something from life, you have bet ready to rub yourself to difficult situations of life. You should be ready to face the hurdles of life. The second lesson is that just like the match stick burns itself to light candles and lamps, if you have something never hesitate to share with others if the person is in need of it. If you have small amount of knowledge share it to others who may come out with new knowledge for the benefit of all. When I thought to pen down something for the Kalinga Samaj e-magazine, I was puzzled while selecting a topic, because many years have passed, I would have written anything in odia. Then I  remembered about my school days and my odia lessons. I just could not just control myself to stop laughing for number of incidents relating to my subject odia in my school days- our odia teacher, the handwritings, the essay competitions, the odia idioms, story writing assignments, punishments, examinations days, daddy’s practise sessions and lots more. Childhood days are amazing in classroom, but a little tough for an English medium student in the odia class. With time, the love for the mother tongue grows, the tough subject seems a treasure to the heart and life.
