2016 : The moments that made me smile

1.    14th January 2016- Registration Seminar of my PhD students- Pragyan Dash and Bijay Sankar.
2.    12th January 2016- Case publication in the leading business Newspaper- The Economic Times
3.    1st March 2016- Invited as Guest Speaker at Department of Commerce, Utkal University to speak on Skilling and Employability: Issues and Options
4.    5th March 2016- I performed in fashion parade as bride from Kerala. I did some dance steps and people appreciated saying, it seemed like I am a classical professional dancer after that I performed in a group dance on three songs London thumkda, DJ wale babu mera gaana chalade, men lovely ho gayi yaar .. Naam Tera padke... I was spending time from morning 6 am till night 1 pm managing, office, cooking, home, dance and other. I was feeling crazy last couple of days with hectic time. But it was worth when all praised our performance. Feeling happy after so many days from college life
5.    Got project sanctioned by ICSSR on 3rd may 2016
6.    14th May 2016- Poetry recitation at Kolkata on Kolkata- The Misti City and awarded Appreciation for my poem at Ekphrasis
7.    Publication of Poetry Book – Two Hearts and Hundred Pearls
8.    5th- 7th August 2016- Attended FDP programme by IIM Kashipur, Uttarakhand
9.    12-13th August 2016- Attended and presented research papers in conference organized by IIT Madras and met my teachers, friends and my sister in Chennai.
10.  September 2016 – Successful completion of Registration Seminar of my PhD student - Brahmadev Panda
11.  Completion of Solo Poetry Book – Songs of Soul
12.   Completion of Poetry Book – Duet Poem Book Publication – Mellifluous
13.  Publication of Research paper

Lessons from a Matchstick

We know that a match is a flammable object for lighting a fire in required situation. This match sticks even though very small but can teach big lessons. It rubs itself on the rough surface again and again until it burns to ignite the light. The first lesson is that if you want to get something from life, you have bet ready to rub yourself to difficult situations of life. You should be ready to face the hurdles of life. The second lesson is that just like the match stick burns itself to light candles and lamps, if you have something never hesitate to share with others if the person is in need of it. If you have small amount of knowledge share it to others who may come out with new knowledge for the benefit of all. When life of the match stick is for few seconds but by burning itself it lights other big objects which removes the darkness around you. Same way in every big sculpture there are small hands. Odisha: Memories Recollected

When I thought to pen down something for the Kalinga Samaj e-magazine, I was puzzled while selecting a topic, because many years have passed, I would have written anything in odia. Then I  remembered about my school days and my odia lessons. I just could not just control myself to stop laughing for number of incidents relating to my subject odia in my school days- our odia teacher, the handwritings, the essay competitions, the odia idioms, story writing assignments, punishments, examinations days, daddy’s practise sessions and lots more. Childhood days are amazing in classroom, but a little tough for an English medium student in the odia class. With time, the love for the mother tongue grows, the tough subject seems a treasure to the heart and life. No one in this world, who are born and brought up in Odisha, would have forgotten the childhood day’s lullaby sang by their mother.
